Seattle’s Impactful Roster of Young NFL Draft Picks and Free Agents

Serving orthopedic patients across the Puget Sound region in Washington, Ian B. Lawson, MD, has an extensive knowledge of surgical approaches to hand and wrist injuries. An avid sports fan, Dr. Ian B. Lawson serves on the Fellowship of Christian Athletes board and is a Seattle Seahawks season ticketholder.

The 2022 Seahawks season, while up and down, ended better than expected, with the young team achieving nine victories and making the playoffs. One key to this was solid draft picks across the board, with Kenneth Walker III rushing for more than 1,000 yards, Coby Bryant forcing numerous key fumbles, and Tariq Woolen shutting down the backfield with six interceptions.

In addition, though he didn’t get many touches as wide receiver, Dareke Young emerged as a key contributor to special teams. He excelled in tackles and pressuring kick and punt returners. Lining up as fullback on occasion, he also provided outstanding blocking that enabled key offensive players to advance.

Brought in as a free agent, Uchenna Nwosu found a niche as an edge rusher who lined up next to Darrell Taylor and achieved numerous sacks and hits on the quarterback. In addition to 9.5 sacks, he attained a career-best 66 tackles as well as three forced fumbles, and was selected as a Pro Bowl alternate. What the accomplishments of these players suggest is that the Seahawks have a firm foundation on which to build a 2023 season that gives them the potential to move even deeper into the postseason.
