FCA Creates Program to Support Ukraine

Dr. Ian B. Lawson is an orthopedic surgeon with more than two decades of experience. He is fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada and member of the Washington State Medical Society. In addition to his endeavors in the medical field, Ian B. Lawson, MD, previously served on the board of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).

Incorporated in 1954, FCA is an organization that promotes ministry and Christian faith in athletics via a range of programs, including sports, coaches, and leadership camps. It is active in 114 countries and leads various charitable programs. In November 2022, FCA launched Operation Ukraine to deliver sports equipment and supplies to athletic programs in the European country as it deals with shortages and other major challenges as a result of the ongoing war with Russia.

FCA partnered with Convoy of Hope for Operation Ukraine. Convoy of Hope has delivered more than 100 shipping containers of supplies for Ukraine to Poland and Romania since the start of the war, and will send 40 pallets of sports equipment to Ukraine on behalf of FCA. Donations were collected through sports equipment drives throughout the US and delivered to a warehouse in Kansas City, where they will be rerouted to Ukraine.

The AAOS Medical Journal

A board-certified orthopedic surgeon based in Gig Harbor, Washington, Ian B. Lawson, MD, has a wealth of experience in musculoskeletal issues. He has served as a clinical instructor and department chair. Dr. Ian B. Lawson is a member of various professional associations, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS).

The AAOS was established in 1933 to provide a central platform for disseminating knowledge and skills on the musculoskeletal system. Prominent programs include continuing medical education (CME) courses, an Orthopedic Learning Center, and the world-renowned annual meeting for networking.

The available material comes in many forms, such as research papers, resident education items, and reports of orthopedic advances.
